The Shaeffer Cabin today is intended to have no more than 60 people inside at one time. It rents for $200 with an additional $200 security deposit returned after inspection. It has a kitchen plus 3 additional rooms. It lacks air conditioning; so, fans would be in order in the summer, but the location is shaded. Parking is limited, but there is a dentist and a church nearby that might let us use them for overflow. It has a level field with some trees that has thick scrap shrubbery through which no one would be walking, suggesting it can well be used for archery as well as thrown weapons. There is enough space for a list field for at least single combat.
No overnight. Open 10 AM - 11PM -- but they give you the key Friday. I presume that you can set up earlier on Saturday before your guests arrive.
What would Carlisle say about our activities? Well, it has this amusement tax ordinance that specifically excludes charitable organizations from paying the tax, but it defines amusements that could happen in the borough as follows:
AMUSEMENT—All manner and form of entertainment, including, among others, the following theatrical performance, operatic performance, carnival, circus, show, concert, lecture, sports
event, vaudeville show, sideshow, amusement park and all forms of entertainment therein, dancing, golf, bowling, billiards or pool, athletic contests, including wrestling matches, boxing and sparring exhibitions, football, basketball and baseball games, ice skating, roller skating, tennis, hockey, bathing, swimming, archery, shooting, riding, racing and other form of diversion, sport, pastime or recreation, shows, exhibitions, contests, displays and games for which admission
is charged or paid.
